Major studio in Los Angeles is IMMEDIATELY seeking a Sr. Payroll Processor!!

Sr. Payroll Processor will be responsible for processing payroll for the bi-weekly exempt and non-exempt employee population using PeopleSoft v9.1+ and Kronos Timekeeping system v8.0+ in a multi-state environment. The Sr. Payroll Processor's position is also responsible for processing/inputting large volume of garnishments and residual and writers' payments for Loan Outs and individuals, as well as, provide backup for the weekly union payroll.

Sr. Payroll Processor responsibilities to include, but not limited to:

Process high volume of court-ordered wage garnishments and tax levies; ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, timely response and input

  • Audit HR payroll related transaction input for accuracy and completeness (e.g. New Hires, Terminations, Salary Changes) as required by client's SOX controls

  • Performs specialized payroll calculations such as retroactive pay, severance, vacation payouts and other off cycle payments

  • Services various HR Generalist groups with on demand payments, payroll data/analysis, etc.

  • Processes employee file maintenance transactions such as general deductions, W-4 changes, direct deposit setup, etc.

  • Maintains special recurring payments schedules

  • Monitors the Kronos and Studio Time and Attendance Tracking (STAT) Timekeeping systems to ensure timesheets are accurately completed and approved in a timely basis

  • Audit the Kronos and STAT Timekeeping systems for exceptions such as excessive overtime, appropriate attendance coding, regulatory and union compliance, company policy, etc.

  • Reconcile and close Kronos and STAT Timekeeping systems in preparation for payroll processing

  • Review for proper coding of residual and outside participation payments to ensure appropriate fringe and tax calculations

  • Process miscellaneous payments such as tuition reimbursements, imputed income, stock, commissions, bonus etc.

  • Process leave of absence payments and coordinate with state disability payments

  • Process reversals and off-cycle checks

  • Research and respond to employee and HR inquiries in a professional and timely manner

  • Complete federal and state payroll related inquiries

  • Assist in test application upgrades, tax release and maintenance packs for payroll related systems

  • Special projects as assigned

  • Perform backup duties as needed


Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, some college desired

  • Minimum 2 years payroll related experience or equivalent

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and accuracy

  • Experience with PeopleSoft HRMS and Kronos is preferred

  • Demonstrate an understanding of payroll related regulations and union contracts
