Primary Responsibilities: The Subject Matter / Domain Expert within Optum Payment Integrity’s (OPI) Innovation Lab is an expert in core aspects of our business across the Healthcare Insurance value chain You will be comfortable translating strategic and tactical ideas into delivery-focused change initiatives which map current business state into desired future states You will have the ability to think about business and operations in a way that is abstracted from how business functions are implemented by technology or how they manifest in processes today This role provides thought leadership for the building and executing of Optum Payment Integrity’s (OPI) Innovation Lab - a team dedicated to transformational change Overall characteristics of this candidate: Someone who has occupied more than one role within a business operations organization, which provides operational insight and allows a broad perspective of the big picture The ability for critical thinking outside their immediate sphere of responsibility Skill in navigating multiple stakeholders / leaders to gain consensus and to avoid over-extension of resources. A single point of contact that will interact with a broad audience Experience with Commercial Clients (not just internal focused) Ability to articulate and paint a vision, with strong communication and presentation skills. As well as strengths in translating highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences Ability to evaluate opportunities to integrate new technologies, data, processes, and business models into existing organizational capabilities Comfortable evaluating new ideas and recommending strategic and tactical options - including consideration of similar capabilities across the enterprise, implementation challenges, and business priorities Comfortable liaising / collaborating among stakeholders to understand structures, policies, and operations primarily of the Payment Integrity organization but also other divisions of UHG from time to time Strong leader for a variety of projects including proofs of concept, operational efficiency improvements, and process re-engineering among others Ability to drive / participate in the capital request process, as appropriate (e.g., presentations, cost-benefit analysis, business case) Translate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience 5 or more years of experience in health care / health insurance Experience evaluating / analyzing complex environments and creating recommended strategies Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree Knowledge of Optum solutions (particularly Payment Integrity) Consulting or business analysis experience Strong financial acumen and experience Experience of multiple industries / sectors Soft Skills: Demonstrated ability to message, position, and present complex information for maximum customer impact and influence Ability to establish credibility and build relationships at all levels Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities Highly collaborative style; experience developing, implementing and delivering on strategies in a matrix environment essential Careers with Optum.
