Technician Sr, Equipment Design
The Sr. Equipment Maintenance Technician will assist projects and efforts in design and development of mfg. and R&D equipment for medical devices. This includes design, development, and fabrication of electromechanical automated and semi-automated mfg. equipment, authoring equipment specifications, generating schematics, and maintaining drawings. This position will also assist projects in mfg. process development, including creation and execution of validation protocols and reports. Typical responsibilities include:
Assist projects to design and build new equipment and fixturing to improve mfg. process capability, capacity, efficiency, cost, and quality
Assist projects to design improvements to existing R&D and mfg. process equipment, tooling, and fixturing
Assist projects to validate product, equipment and mfg. processes
Perform engineering tasks using established procedures related to equipment selection, schematic design, system layout, cost estimation and system documentation
Perform prototype build function for Design Engineering team, which includes electrical and mechanical machine assembly, and requires precision manual and CNC machining.
Interface with cross-functional departments to execute mfg process and equipment development projects
Performs additional responsibilities as assigned

Must have 10+ years of directly-related experience
Must have experience reading and preparing technical documentation
Good communication skills
Ability to assist in design, develop, and program PLC-based control systems for mfg equipment
Ability to modify existing control systems or program new control systems for PLC's, Stand Alone Computers, and HMI's
Demonstrated expertise related to equipment, fixturing, tooling, and machine design.
Working knowledge of SolidWorks
Good document control and record-keeping skills
Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
Medical device industry experience preferred
Demonstrated mastery of manual and CNC machining methods, including conversational and CAD/CAM CNC programming.
The current work location for this position is Aliso Viejo, CA.
Extended periods of computer usage, sitting or standing, and extended periods working in a cleanroom environment.
Occasional heavy lifting (up to 35 lbs)
Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. and not require visa sponsorship.
